Entec has 750 staff and associates working across its range of multidisciplinary projects. More than 100 staff have experience working on flood related projects, but we'd like to introduce you to a handful of key individuals to give you a flavour of our skills.

Bill Finlinson

Bill Finlinson

Bill is an Associate Director who has directed or managed a wide variety of studies in the fields of climate change and strategic flood management. Recent projects include formulation of EA policy on flood resilience, the London Flood Resilience project, a Defra-funded integrated urban drainage management project, the London Climate Change Study for GLA, and a variety of research/policy guidance to the ABI on sustainable flood management and coastal flood risk. Other work has included SFRAs within the Thames Gateway and other parts of England, and assessment of climate change on flood risk in Scotland. His team is involved in FRA and associated river modelling projects for a range of clients including MoD, minerals companies, industries and property developers. He is currently manager for SEA inputs to catchment flood management plans (CFMPs) working to JBA Consulting under the Environment Agency's SFRM Framework.

Neil Thurston

Neil Thurston

Neil is a principal GIS consultant at Entec, with over ten years of experience of spatial mapping/analysis and GIS based environmental risk assessment (notably national flood risk, groundwater vulnerability and slope stability). He is also the leader of the Entec GIS team, advises on GIS technical issues for a wide range of environmental projects. In the last few years, Neil has been the Entec project manager for a range of national GIS flood risk assessment and policy evaluation studies.

Gary Ewdards

Garry Edwards

Garry is an associate director responsible for the technical management of the modelling function within Entec throughout the UK, which specialises in modelling all aspects of piped systems and urban drainage. He has a wealth of experience in other types of mathematical modelling including estuarial, coastal, hydrological and fluvial modelling. Garry has an extensive background in regulation within water companies and was responsible for the compilation of Northumbrian Water's Strategic Business Plan for AMP2 in respect of CSO’s and outfalls, and is currently on the committee of the Water Framework Directive Stakeholder Group. He has been active in many technical committees on wastewater issues including CSO design and stormwater management.

Nick Jarritt

 

Nick Jarritt

Nick Jarritt is a principal consultant specialising in flood risk assessment. Nick has undertaken and managed a number of PPS25 and PPG25 flood risk assessments for a range of housing and commercial developments. In addition, Nick has worked on the strategic flood risk assessments of East London (Thames Gateway) and Kent Thameside. These projects have involved hydrological and hydrodynamic modelling to assess the potential impacts of breaches in the River Thames flood defences, and the asseessment of local development strategies against flood risk and the formulation of potential flood risk mitigation options. Nick also has experience of water quality modelling and assessment for both the Environment Agency and private clients.

Steve Anderton

Steve Anderton

Steve Anderton is a principal consultant in water management. He has over 16 years' experience in hydrology in academic research, environmental regulation and consultancy. Since joining Entec he has managed or provided technical inputs to a number of flood risk, water resources and environmental impact assessment studies, including work for the Environment Agency, regional and local government, water companies and the property and construction sectors. Steve has extensive experience of modelling of hillslope and catchment hydrology, with a particular emphasis on groundwater-surface water interactions. He is currently project manager for a regional groundwater modeling project for Environment Agency Anglian Region.
