Press Release
Defra Reappoint Entec to WIP LASU Framework

Issue date: 10 October 2006

Entec has successfully been reappointed to Defra’s Local Authority Support Unit (LASU) call-off contract as part of the wider Waste Implementation Programme (WIP). The framework, which will run until 2008, includes support to local authorities for waste composition analysis, waste planning and supply chain management. Entec will also provide technical advice for capital finance and investment.

LASU assists local authorities to meet, or exceed, their requirements under the EU Landfill Directive. Entec was previously included on a select list for 2004-2006 for waste composition analysis, waste strategy and waste planning work.

Entec’s project director Francis Crozier said: “Entec’s reappointment allows us to continue to provide support to local authorities who are trying to meet the challenge of their landfill diversion targets. Entec's knowledge and experience within the waste sector is particularly well suited to providing the broad range of consultancy services required by the local authorities as part of WIP.”
