Entec Helps to Realise Redevelopment Dream at Middlehaven
Issue date: 5 December 2006
The Middlehaven dream is finally set to be realised. A £200m development to include a series of iconic structures will be built on the site around the former Middlesbrough Dock. Tees Valley Regeneration has announced that BioRegional Quintain is the chosen developer for much of the first phase of the site and will start next year on delivering the project. Entec will be supporting the developers in preparing a revised outline planning application and subsequently a reserved matters application for the early phase.
The proposals comprise a mix of commercial, leisure and residential uses in a high quality public realm and it is believed the development will bring £200m of investment to Middlesbrough and around 1,000 jobs. The project aims to provide a modern, colourful, thriving community - with homes, cafés, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities.
James Hall, Project Director said "Entec is pleased to support BioRegional Quintain with what is planned to become a best practice model in regeneration. Entec has been involved with Middlehaven for four years now and has unrivalled knowledge of the local planning, environmental and transport issues. The majority of phases 1 and 2 at Middlehaven were taken through the planning process by us, plus Entec was involved in securing the planning permission for the new state-of-the-art Middlesbrough College campus which is now under construction."
