Entec assesses UK Government's Sustainable Development
Issue date: 7 March 2007
Entec has prepared the Sustainable Development in Government Annual Report 2006 as published today by the Sustainable Development Commission (SDC). The report assesses the performance of Government departments against the targets of the Framework for Sustainable Development on the Government Estate. This includes performance in the areas of energy use and carbon emissions, waste and recycling, sustainable procurement, travel and estates management.
The project included the use of an innovative web based data collection tool and use of improved assessment methodologies. Entec has been re-appointed to undertake the assessment for 2007.
Entec’s project manager Matthew Greaves said: “We have worked with the Sustainable Development Commission to provide a much improved assessment of Government performance against its self-imposed targets. The report highlights a number of opportunities and recommendations to help Government improve its performance and we look forward to assessing this improvement through the 2007 reporting process.”
Andrew Lee, Director at the Sustainable Development Commission commented: “SDC wishes to thank Entec for its work in gathering the data and presenting the findings, and also in developing a more refined appraisal system for assessing departments' performance. This should enable Government to better focus efforts and resources to build capacity.”
