Press Release
Bristol International Airport Appoints Entec

Issue date: 6 September 2005

Entec has been appointed by Bristol International Airport to act as their environmental and planning consultants for the current phase of their programme of expansion. Passenger numbers at Bristol International Airport have grown by an average 13% per annum over the last 10 years, double the national growth rate, and the airport now handles over 4 million passengers per annum. A range of development requirements to support the expansion are necessary, including expansion of the terminal, aircraft stands and apron, provision of an airport hotel, additional car parking, relocation of the airport fuel depot, fire station, development of office accommodation and reconfiguration of other airport infrastructure.

Entec’s brief includes a wide portfolio of work encompassing option appraisal, technical and design support for the development and production of the airport masterplan, community consultation, environmental impact assessment, sustainability appraisal, development of the planning strategy and the co-ordination and submission of the planning applications necessary for the expansion.

Project Manager, Matthew Johns, said "I am delighted that Entec is able to utilise its broad range of services on such an exciting and prestigious development that has significant positive implications for the economy of the West of England”.

Alan Davies, Head of Planning and Development at BIA commented that "Entec has a strong track record of environmental and planning support in the aviation sector. We look forward to benefiting from this experience in making our vision for Bristol International Airport a reality."
