London's Warming - Climate Change Study

A team of consultants led by Entec has produced the first study to focus on the future impacts of climate change on London.

Climate change will mean that London will have warmer summers and wetter winters in the coming decades and the research identifies the benefits and disadvantages that these impacts could have on businesses and the capital's population.

The study, commissioned by the London Climate Change Partnership entitled London's Warming was launched recently by the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, and the Environment Minister, Michael Meacher.

Jim Kersey, Entec's Project Director said: "In order to begin to understand what climate change might mean for London and what measures we should be putting in place to address the potential impacts in the next 50 to 80 years, the study team took an innovative approach to assessing social, economic and environmental impacts. This included scenario analysis, stakeholder engagement, policy analysis and statistical downscaling of climate models. This approach has resulted in clear indications of what further work will be needed to address climate change in the capital."
