Entec Opens New Office in Bristol

We are pleased to announce the most recent expansion to our UK network with the opening of our new office in Bristol on 6th October 2003.

The office will help ensure that clients in the area, such as the Environment Agency, will benefit from our proximity.

Entec has a number of framework agreements with the Environment Agency, one example is that we are one of a small number of consultancies providing support to the Agency’s head office in Bristol through its Environmental Protection Framework. Entec has been investigating and reporting on a wide range of issues, covering:

• Anticipated quantities of hazardous waste and treatment capacities following recent legislative changes, work which has helped inform the Government’s new Hazardous Waste Forum;
• Implications of the Water Framework Directive and development of groundwater methodologies to meet the requirements of River Basin Characterisation;
• Development of Environmental Assessment guidance (‘H1’) for processes requiring authorisation under PPC Regulations;
• Odour model assessment;
• Inspection strategy for land contaminated by radioactive substances;
• Auditing of sewer models;
• Guidance on Best Available Techniques in the food sector;
• Potential impacts of climate change on waste management.

In addition to existing client proximity, in the medium to long-term, the move will become the centre for expanding the customer base in the south-west.

The expansion is also part of a company-wide organic growth strategy that has seen a successful recruitment plan boost staff numbers by 13% over the last year to a current total of 683 staff and associates UK-wide.

To accommodate this growth, Entec expanded in the south-east with a new office in Reading and a move to larger premises in Crawley in 2002. Other offices around the UK are also reviewing the need for more space to allow for further planned recruitment.
