Entec Director Elected
Junior Vice-President of RTPI

Clive Harridge of Entec has successfully won the election to the post of Junior Vice-President of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). Clive is Director of Planning and heads up many of the company’s major planning projects for clients such as the Crown Estate, English Partnerships and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

In 2003 Clive was identified by the Independent on Sunday Business News as one of the country’s top ten chartered town planners. Clive will be Junior Vice-President in 2004, Senior Vice-President in 2005 and President in 2006 when he will represent the Institute nationally and internationally.

The RTPI is a membership organisation with over 18000 members, and a registered charity. This was the first time that the Presidency has been elected by a national ballot of all members.

The Institute is currently going through a process of radical change based on its New Vision for Planning. This is happening at the same time as the Government has been developing its proposals for a new planning system which are currently being considered by Parliament.

“The changes taking place in the profession, in the Government’s attitude to planning, and in the very nature of planning itself, are the most fundamental that have taken place for 50 years or so – this is an exciting time to be a planner. The objective underpinning all of my work at Entec and for the RTPI is the delivery of sustainable, high quality places that communities can enjoy and be proud of. As President of the RTPI I will continue to press for an improved planning system that can help deliver a more sustainable future for us all.”
