Entec at CIRIA Annual Contaminated Land Conference

Entec is to present a workshop for the CIRIA annual contaminated land conference on 17 October in London. The conference will review a variety of current issues in management of contaminated land, particularly new regulations and policy which will affect the management of contaminated land. Other issues include problems with availability of landfill sites, treatment of contaminated waste, human health and groundwater risk assessment, risk assessment for unexploded ordnance and the sustainability of brownfield redevelopment.

Entec’s Alastair Forbes is co-presenting a workshop session on the assessment and management of risks from unexploded ordnance (UXO), with Mike Sainsbury from Zetica. The session will explore how risks from unexploded wartime bombs or other military explosives should be assessed and managed during the development process. Alastair will draw on his experience of managing UXO issues during contaminated land assessment on military sites, a recently-developed Entec UXO risk management procedure and the work of the forthcoming CIRIA working party on managing UXO risks on construction sites.

The conference will also feature speakers from the Environment Agency, English Partnerships and the Thames Gateway Partnership. It is expected that the conference will appeal to clients and developers, house builders, investors, regulators, financiers, legal professionals, consultant engineers and environmental consultants, contractors, technology vendors, local authorities and research and academic institutions.
