It seems the daily commute doesn’t provide enough excitement for some of us, as staff from Entec’s Shrewsbury and Leamington offices have decided to seek their thrills by driving (or will it be pushing?) a couple of clapped out jalopies half way across the world as part of the Mongol Rally this summer. All in the name of charity of course.
Ruby Barker and her husband Mark, and their recently acquired Reliant three-wheeler, will attempt the 7000 miles from London to Mongolia across 3 deserts, 5 mountain ranges, and roads that range from bad to non-existent, with no support crew, mechanical assistance or medical arrangements.
Not to be outdone, Ricki Coles and Jon Milner from the Leamington office are also attempting the three week epic journey, but their chosen thoroughbred is more Paris than Peckham, in the form of a Citroën 2CV called Fluffy. Their meticulous preparations are based around reaching Moscow then taking a right!
Leaving on 28th July 2004, the teams are hoping to raise money
for the charity Send a Cow, which works with extremely poor rural communities
in
East Africa
to make lasting, practical differences to the lives of thousands. Both teams
are working hard to raise funds over the coming weeks.
