Entec at Environment Agency’s Conference
Entec will be closely involved in the Environment Agency’s fourth annual conference - Deeper, Wider, Greener, on 22-23 November 2005 at the QEII Conference Centre, London. Entec is one of the conference sponsors and will also be running the conference workshop on Enterprise and the Environment.
The conference will discuss the challenges facing local, regional and national government in delivering effective environmental change. What are the key issues and what can individuals, communities and industry do to protect and improve the environment? The conference will explore the support needed for action at national and international levels.
Entec’s Richard Boud and Iain Johnston will be running a workshop on renewable energy. Energy efficiency, wind and hydro power alone will not be enough to stabilise our emissions of greenhouse gases, so we must look to new technologies including marine energy for additional ways to tackle climate change. The workshop will discuss some of the technological and economic drivers for renewable energy and is intended to provide a structure in which our collective environmental responsibilities can be discussed and their merits balanced.
The event will feature keynote speakers Yvette Cooper MP, Minister of State, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the RT Hon John Hutton MP, the Department for Work and Pensions Secretary. Other speakers include: Lord Bach of Lutterworth, Department for the Environment and Rural Affairs; Jon Snow, journalist and broadcaster; Barbara Young, Environment Agency; James Smith, Chairman, Shell UK and Tony Juniper, Director of Friends of the Earth.
