WRAP Re-Appoints Entec to Rotate Framework
The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) has re-appointed Entec to the Recycling and Organics Technical Advisory Team (ROTATE) framework for a period of up to 4 years.
Entec’s proposal to WRAP covered four key service areas, service review and options appraisal, collection and facilities design, guidance and communications and performance management.
Entec has worked with ROTATE on a range of projects since 2004. Under the original framework, Entec delivered support in the form of collection service reviews, options appraisal studies, round design and logistics evaluation, organics research and development of guidance for local authorities on alternate weekly collections.
Entec Project Manager, Dr Geoff Sampson said, “The team members have developed strong relationships with many of the ROTATE advisers through the support delivered to date and have developed effective communication channels and working protocols between the two organisations. We look forward to developing this relationship and the range of support we can provide.”

WRAP has recently published a study entitled Environmental Benefits of Recycling.
The study includes reviews and analysis of the best Life Cycle Analysis studies
from around the world evaluating the environmental impacts of recycling compared
to incineration or landfilling for seven of the most commonly recycled materials.
According to the study, the UK's current recycling of those materials saves
between 10-15 million tonnes of CO2 equivalents per year compared to the current
mix of landfill and incineration with energy recovery to the same materials.
This is equivalent to about 10% of the annual CO2 emissions from the transport
sector, and equates to taking 3.5 million cars off UK roads. Click here to
