Entec Open 2007
Following on from the success of the previous staff golf days, 32 golfers of all standards made their way once again to Northenden Golf Club in sunny (for 2 yrs running!) Manchester to take part in the 2006 event at the end of April. A wide range of playing abilities took to the fairways throughout the day with varying degrees of success although the adjacent River Mersey wasn’t in quite as much danger as last year. Special mention to Iain Findlay who despite playing some great golf had to bail out of the event leaving his team to pick up as many points as possible without him. They battled on nobly with Iain’s delayed reward being a much sought after Entec baseball cap for their showing in the team event. Special mention also to Rachael and Cara who played their first ever round of golf on the day and never stopped smiling as they negotiated the course.
At the end of another eventful day Chris Tatersall came away victorious by just one point from Ian Hepplewhite with both taking some lighthearted ribbing for their declared handicaps. Christine Bell came third and was also the winner of the Entec ladies prize. Everyone enjoyed themselves, no doubt the unseasonal weather helping in that respect, but it may be too much to ask for more sunshine in Manchester next year. Finally, thanks go to the Sports and Social fund for a very generous contribution towards the event, and to Peter Foskett for organising the trophies, not to mention everyone who gave up their time to turn out.
