Gliding High

The foul weather held off momentarily on the 7th and 21st June for the second season of Entec gliding evenings, where nearly 30 intrepid people decided to experiment with engine-less flying. The first evening was fairly murky, albeit with hardly any wind, which resulted in smooth flying for all, whilst the second evening was a little more dramatic, with heavy shower clouds occasionally passing over and dwarfing the gliders.

Whilst skilfully avoiding lift or rising air so that they considerately did not stay up too long, everyone enjoyed themselves. Because the sessions were introductory lessons, everyone had the chance to take control and start learning how to fly, and many experienced quite how sensitive the aircraft are to both pilots and weather . . . although the instructors did regain control for landing
