Peter Waite

 

Peter Waite is the director responsible for Entec’s Risk and Safety Management services. He is a Chartered Engineer and Registered Safety and Environmental Professional with the Institution of Chemical Engineers. Peter has over 27 years experience in risk management, hazard analysis, quantified risk analysis, accident investigation, HAZOP, Human Factors, Safety Reports and Safety Cases principally for the Oil, Gas and Chemical Industries on behalf of designers, operators, local planning authorities and neighbouring landowners. He has also managed environmental impact assessments and environmental risk assessments in these industries and for mining operations. He has appeared as an expert witness at numerous land use planning Public Inquiries relating to major accident hazards and surrounding developments. He also appeared as an expert witness for the Inquiry at Lord Cullen’s Inquiry into the Ladbroke Grove Rail Inquiry giving evidence on the role of the Safety Case and the purpose of Accident Investigations. He has also been involved in writing codes of practice for high pressure pipelines for the Institute of Gas Engineers, training materials for the Institution of Chemical Engineers and guidance on Human Factors assessment methods for the Health & Safety Executive and Institute of Energy. Other major contributions to the development of risk management included leading the development of risk assessment toolkits for the use of UK Fire & Rescue Services in their Integrated Risk Management Plans.
