The employee at the top must be a champion of corporate responsibility. If your Chief Executive is merely paying lip service to corporate responsibility then the next person down is not going to take it seriously.

Key to making corporate responsibility work in any company is the involvement of employees. The most obvious benefit is improved awareness, but what really counts is the commitment that results from employee involvement.

Employees can be your best asset and biggest liability. They will be the first to tell others how it really is in your company. If you can get 100, 10,000 or even 100,000 employees talking to friends, colleagues and customers about your responsible company this is a very powerful statement.

But we believe that face to face training and awareness activities are of the most value. Entec is developing off site and on site awareness programmes designed to help people (right from the top) answer questions such as what is corporate responsibility; what does it mean for my company; and what does it mean for me?
